Aramco Europe CEO meets corporate citizenship partners in Poland

The President and CEO of Aramco Europe has visited the Respite Care Center in Gdańsk, one of the first facilities of its kind in Poland.

The Center, run by the Hospice Foundation, was opened in September 2023 and provides temporary and day care for those in need of support, while offering respite for their families and caregivers.

Aramco Europe formed a partnership with the Center last year as part of its European citizenship program, which aims to positively impact the communities where the company operates. It is one of a growing number of citizenship initiatives established in Poland since 2022, when Aramco completed three landmark transactions in the country.

Hospice Foundation Management Board Chairwoman Iwona Sierzputowska, said: “The Center provides respite care for people in need while giving their relatives, who often act as full-time carers, a chance to rest and recuperate. This is of particular importance for individuals who have assumed this role over an extended period, often spanning months or even years.

“We provide real support to families and carers of chronically ill people. With Aramco Europe's help, we can provide even more effective assistance, developing our facility and offering care to those in need. We are grateful to Aramco Europe for recognizing the importance of our mission and committing to it.”

Aramco Europe President & CEO Mazin Dabbagh, said: “The Respite Center in Gdansk makes a real difference to the everyday lives of some truly exceptional people as well as their equally exceptional caregivers, who find themselves in the most difficult of circumstances.

“It is both inspiring and humbling to witness the commendable work of our citizenship partners which aligns with our long-standing commitment to make a positive impact in the local communities where we operate.”

The center offers free temporary care to people who are dependent due to illness or disability, giving their families the chance to relax, take care of their health or run errands for which they usually lack time.

In less than a year of operation, the Respite Care Centre has delivered round-the-clock care to 546 people, providing them with support in daily activities, but also with interesting therapeutic activities, rehabilitation or psychological support.

Aramco Europe's donation will enable around 120 carers to benefit from respite support and ensure that their loved ones are looked after by a professional team of nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, therapists and other staff.
