As part of its corporate citizenship programme, Aramco Europe has partnered with the Daniel Fahrenheit University Union (FarU) to support STEM education in Pomerania. The partnership will result in a series of educational events aimed at students and the youngest residents of the Tri-City, titled "Science with Energy", focusing on the future, sustainable energy and fuel production. The partnership will be launched during the 3rd Fahrenheit Science Picnic on 26 May at the Hevelianum in Gdańsk.
Science Picnic for the youngest
The Fahrenheit Science Picnic is an initiative of the Daniel Fahrenheit University Union, organised for the third time in collaboration with the Hevelianum. This year, the organisers have teamed up with Aramco Europe to put together a programme that will introduce participants to the world of energy and technology.
The youngest explorers visiting the Aramco Europe stand will be able to take part in chemistry experiments, where they will be guided by animators to investigate the flammability of carbon dioxide, oxygen and hydrogen, and learn how a pressure relief valve works. In the "pressure tower", they will discover the secrets of oil distillation.
On this day, thanks to Aramco Europe, visitors to the Hevelianum will also be able to visit the "With Energy" exhibition free of charge. Aramco Europe has also prepared a special Lego model of a synthetic fuel production and carbon capture plant.
A series of initiatives for students at Gdańsk universities
The Daniel Fahrenheit University Union in Gdańsk brings together three universities: Gdańsk University, Gdańsk University of Technology and Gdańsk Medical University. Its activities focus on developing solutions to support joint research and development work.
In addition to the Science Picnic, Aramco Europe’s partnership with the Daniel Fahrenheit University Union will include among others, the organisation of the 'Energy of the Future' and 'Hackathon' competitions for students and a series of podcasts on energy. The planned initiatives aimed to share knowledge and encourage participation in science and technology initiatives prepared for pupils and students of Gdańsk universities.
The partnership with FarU is one of the elements of Aramco Europe's Corporate Citizenship programme, which focuses on supporting local initiatives, and popularising science.
The Science Picnic will take place on 26 May at the Hevelianum on Góra Gradowa from 11am to 4pm. Admission to the event is free.
